The workshop is provided with live percussion. In West Africa, this dance is danced by everyone making it possible for anyone, with or without dance experience, to join. The movements can be danced as gentle as you need or as wide and deep as you feel.

Laia del Barrio started dancing African dance in 2005 in Barcelona; she went to Senegal for the first time in 2007 and still goes there to perfect her technique. She also lived in Senegal for a year and danced with "La Foret Sacree" of Ziguinchor. She has performed with "Guzanghida" and "Nusodia" in Amsterdam and "Afroalamuta" in Barcelona, where she regularly taught dance lessons in both cities. She loves expressing herself through dance and finds it a very energetic way of lifting up her spirits and being able to connect with herself and others. Her classes start with a warm-up, continue with teaching steps that built up to a choreography and finish with stretching and cooling-down. TAll her classes are accompanied by live percussion. As songs are an important part of African dance, she teaches traditional short songs which are sung as part of the choreography
